| You are what you are Us kinksters kind of know more than most that it is different things that make us tick. There are thousands of fetishes, some more widely known than others, but they all share one theme, they are not the norm. Now some people would object to that definition. Some people revel in it. It comes down to the fact that different folks have different pleasures that push their buttons. One thing that most of us, well I and my small sample group ;) found was that we knew from an early age that certain things made us happy, and we had no idea. It is only later that we learn about what it is (BDSM and fetishism) that we truly begin to enjoy it. ![]() For most of us, your author included, they knew they were different for as long as they can remember. I recall seeing a female friend tied up when I was a young boy of 9 or 10 and I just knew that it made me excited. I had no idea why, I just remember that day as if it where yesterday. Some other people just drift into it. They hear about it and dare to try it, and love it so much that they cant leave it. Some people come from all walks of life having repressed their feelings for any manner of reasons, not least a feeling of it being "wrong". To deny what makes you tick is to deny your very essence. People have been transformed once they come to realise that they are not alone and begin to explore themselves and others. We get to act out loving fantasies of being able to do wonderfully perverted things to people and having them done to us (removing for a moment the Top/Bottom aspect of the relationship). Before the internet it was incredibly hard to meet like minded individuals. Now you can literally get a list of all the meetings in your area delivered straight to your mailbox. There are even online dating sites that allow kinksters to get together and explore. The ability to realise that repressing your sexual urges is a bad idea (in the right context of course) and that there are people out there who are not only willing but extremely able to teach you how to live out your fantasies in a safe, sane and concentual manner. Once you have a relationship and have experimented with BDSM and fetish, you feel a huge sigh of relief, and look forward to playing out more and more scenes. It becomes a way of life, and a life changing experience. You'll still have "normal" sex, no doubt, but you will always find an element of kink to include...or is that just me ;)
